CyberSmart Kids: Online Safety Bootcamp (Ages 9–11)

COURSE DESCRIPTION 

CyberSmart Kids: Online Safety Bootcamp is an engaging and interactive online training programme designed to teach children how to navigate the digital world safely and responsibly. As more children use the internet for learning, entertainment, and communication, it is essential that they understand how to protect themselves online. Through practical lessons, real-life examples, and guided activities, students will learn how the internet works, how to protect their personal information, recognize online risks, and behave responsibly in digital spaces. The programme empowers children to become confident, responsible, and cyber-smart digital citizens. At the end of the bootcamp, students will complete a simple project demonstrating what they learned and receive a certificate of completion.

COURSE OBJECTIVES

By the end of this programme, students will be able to:

1. Understand the basics of how the internet works.
2. Identify common online risks and how to avoid them.
3. Create and manage strong passwords and secure accounts.
4. Recognize and respond to cyberbullying appropriately.
5. Understand the importance of digital citizenship and responsible online behaviour.

7. Understand what a digital footprint is and how online actions can have long-term consequences.
8. Demonstrate safe online habits through a final project.

• Module 3: Cyberbullying Awareness: Understanding cyberbullying, its effects, and how to respond or seek help.
• Module 4: Being a Good Digital Citizen: Learning respectful behaviour online, including kindness, responsibility, and ethical internet use.
• Module 5: Online Strangers & Grooming (Age-Appropriate): How to identify strangers online and understand the importance of not sharing personal information.
• Module 6: Online Scams & Fake Giveaways: Recognizing suspicious messages, fake competitions, and scams that target children.
• Module 7: Understanding Digital Footprints: Learning how online actions create lasting records and how to manage one’s digital presence responsibly.
• Module 8: Final Project & Certificate Ceremony: Students present a simple project demonstrating what they have learned and receive their certificate of completion.
